Widespread rain predicted in central parts of the country on April 21-23, 2013

Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted intermittently widespread rain/thundershowers with gusty winds over central parts of the country upper Sindh, southern Punjab, Eastern Balochistan and lower KP from Sunday to Tuesday.
Spokesman of Pakistan Meteorological Department informed that a well marked western disturbance weather system is approaching towards the country and likely to hit on April 21, 2013. As a result, intermittent widespread rain/thundershowers with gusty winds are expected in Eastern Balochistan, upper Sind and southern Punjab on Sunday and Tuesday.
The irrigated areas of wheat and cotton crops in Sindh and Punjab would receive scattered rain/thundershowers with gusty winds on Sunday to Tuesday. The farmers are therefore advised to complete harvesting of standing crop and keep the crop/ fodder on safe places to avoid any loss during rainy days.

Seasonal Weather Outlook (Dec-12 to Feb-13)

Precipitation:

Synoptic situation persisted during November indicates complex situation such as jet stream favor less than normal while climatic indices indicates more than normal precipitation in the country. In these situation normal precipitation is expected in early season and after set up of jet stream position towards south more than normal precipitation will be occurred during late season (January and February)
It would result frequent penetration of cold air mass in upper parts that may yield more snow compared to liquid precipitation.

Temperature:

Normal night temperature is expected all over the country during the season. The westerly troughs may affect central parts of country in regular fashion that would result drop of temperatures in agriculture plains and yield frost.
Farmers may adopt precautionary measures to saves paddies.

Fog Prediction:

Synoptic situation favor for thick fog in central and upper parts of the country.

Weather update: Probably last monsoonal rainy system in the country

Monsoon update: Monsoonal currents are going to be weaken and probably will be in cutoff stage during 3rd week of September. This will cause end of monsoonal rain in the country after this spell which is going to end on 20 th September
Next monsoonal system hit upper half of the country from 14 th of September and will persist till 20th. Effected area will be Upper and central Punjab, Lower and Upper KP and Kashmir

Monsoon update

Western currents shifted towards south causes attractive forces for monsoon currents. In this connection, It is assumed that monsoonal currents will be come active after 2nd week of August. In these scenarios, normally heavy rain/thunder would be expected over monsoonal belt during remaining period of monsoon (up till 15 Sept).
In this context, few spells of good rain over upper and central parts of Punjab, Lower parts of KP and Kashmir are expected during fourth week of August.

Second spell of heavy rainfall from Friday evening/night

Another spell of monsoon with moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over central and upper parts of Punjab (Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha and Faisalabad), KP (All divisions), GB, Kashmir and Zhob divisions of Baluchistan from Friday (13/07/12) evening/night to Monday (16/07/12).

Updated Weather Advisory for Monsoon Rainfall in Pakistan

Met office observed that the pace of penetrating monsoon currents in Pakistan is slower than the normal pattern. This accordingly may cause delay in the widespread rainfall system in the country. It is expected that significant rainfall in central and upper parts of the country may occur during the last couple of days in the second week of July, 2012.

However, light to moderate intermittent rainfall in scattered places of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala & Lahore divisions,upper KP and Kashmir will start from Friday evening.

First Monsoon spell predicted in the country from Friday

Met office predicted first monsoon rains of the season in the country from Friday evening.

Met office informed that southwest monsoonal currents are likely to penetrate in Northeastern parts of the country from Friday.

Under the influence of this southwest monsoon incursion, intermittent scattered thundershowers are likely along most parts of central & upper Punjab, Kashmir, and adjoining Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Saturday to Sunday evening.

The monsoon rains would mainly concentrate in northeastern parts of country including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions and Kashmir during the period.

Heat wave conditions would continue over central and upper half of the country during current week.
